RCM Activists Conferences 2017
RCM Activists’ Conference 2017
Bristol 13 July and Leeds 19 September
This year it’s all change for our annual meeting and training day for our workplace representatives, MSW advocates and branch officers.
This year’s RCM Annual Conference (31 October – 1 November, Manchester Central) will not include the Workplace Representatives Conference as an alongside event as in previous years. In feedback in recent years you have said that you would prefer to be able to experience both days of the professional and policy content to gain participating hours for your revalidation rather than missing out on the second day. As you know, this year’s new format Annual Conference is FREE to attend and is set to bring together over 2,000 members.
Instead, we are presenting a separate, one-day, UK-wide free to attend RCM Activists’ Conference. To make this easy to attend for as many of our activists from all parts of the UK as possible, we are repeating this conference in two different locations on two different dates:
You can choose which event to attend, but because capacity is limited, you may only attend one. The two days will have similar programmes. The excellent venues are well served by rail, road and air links to RCM branches across the UK and are in walking distance from stations in city centre locations.
Your Activists’ Conference is a must-attend event for the updates, skill building and networking you need to run a vibrant branch and to support and represent members through the changes and challenges on the horizon for the next year. The programme is devised to provide learning and discussion for activists in all roles and from all UK countries. Continuing the Caring 4 You campaign theme, it will include your annual legal update, alternate sessions on local negotiation, building your branch, professional changes and challenges, and health and wellbeing. An interactive session will give you the opportunity to pose your ideas for building a stronger RCM and question the Chief Executive.
The event is open to all accredited stewards, health and safety representatives and learning representatives, and to MSW advocates, branch chairs, secretaries and treasurers. Remember, attending this conference qualifies for time off for trade union training for all accredited workplace representatives. Please choose your event and submit your application for time off now. Please note that attending the RCM Annual Conference will not qualify as trade union training this year. Your RCM Branch should be able to support your travel expenses and any overnight accommodation costs.
